Before Your Cancer Treatment
Educate yourself about your type of cancer, treatment options,
lifestyle issues and side effects by talking to your healthcare
team and doing your homework
Rest up before treatments. Read a book, spend time with friends
and family, go for a walk—whatever relaxes you
Plan ahead and delegate chores to people who can help you while
you recuperate from treatments. Stock up on food and other essentials
ahead of time so you won’t have to worry about them later
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes when you go for your
treatment
After Your Cancer Treatment
Eat small, frequent meals of food that you can keep down
Relax after your treatment. Try reading a book, watching television
or taking a soothing bath
Take slow, deep breaths if you become nauseated. Open a window
to allow in fresh air in
Keep a symptom diary as a record of how you feel. Make sure
to bring it with you for your next doctor’s appointment.

Tip
When preparing food for a patient undergoing cancer treatment,
avoid meals with strong odors and tastes. Bland foods, such
as crackers, toast and light soups, are easiest to digest.
The
most frequently reported clinical adverse events occurring in
>5% of patients receiving Kytril were headache, constipation, asthenia, diarrhea,
abdominal pain*, dyspepsia*, pain†, anemia†,
fever† and elevated hepatic enzymes†. The use of Kytril
in patients following abdominal surgery or in patients with chemotherapy induced
nausea and vomiting may mask progressive ileus and/or gastric distention.
